Upside Downsize

About

A home is forty years of decisions. We try to honour that.

A wide South East Queensland coastal landscape — soft sky, muted blues, headlands in the distance

01 — Why this work matters

A move late in life isn't a logistics problem. It's a life's worth of possessions, a home that's been lived in for decades, and a family that's usually scattered across cities trying to do the right thing at distance.

The wrong help — rushed, transactional, well-meaning but blunt — can leave a person feeling like they've already lost the house, weeks before they actually have.

So we go slowly. We sit at the kitchen table first. We ask before we touch.

02 — How we work

The senior leads; we follow. No decisions made for the person whose home it is. Even when a family is in a hurry and a parent isn't, the parent's pace is the one we keep.

There's always a hold-back room — a corner, a cupboard, a single labelled box — for the things they aren't ready to decide about. We don't open it again unless they ask us to.

We're patient. We're quiet. We don't fill the silence with chatter.

03 — What you can expect of us

A written agreement before we start. So you know what we're doing, what it includes, and what it doesn't.

Honest conversations when something is harder, slower, or larger than we first thought. We'd rather say it once than discover it the day before the truck arrives.

And a phone call returned, the same day where we can.
